The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Eligibility requirements
Must be a qualified voter and resident of the town. Except where otherwise allowed by law, or pursuant to an agreement under the Interlocal Cooperation act, no Councilor shall hold other Town office or employment during the term for which they were elected to the Council, and no former Councilor shall hold any compensated appointive Town office or employment until one year after the expiration of the term for which they were elected to the Council.
