Job description
The Clerk & Recorder Office is responsible for county accounts payable, payroll, elections and document records/recordings (birth, deaths, mortgages, land transfers, etc.). The office also provides secretarial services for the County Commission.
The County Superintendent has general supervision of the public schools of the county. The office is administrative - performing duties outlined by state law, the Board of Public Education, and the Office of Public Instruction. Supervisory responsibilities include areas of administration, legal issues, financial oversight, transportation, tuition, school district organization, classification, boundary adjustments, and centralized clerical and record keeping. The County Superintendent also fulfills state responsibilities for the home school population.
Eligibility requirements
A candidate must be 18 years of age; a citizen of the state; and (a) an elector of the county in which the duties of the office are to be exercised; or (b) in the case of an office consolidated between two or more counties, an elector in one of the counties in which the duties of the office are to be exercised.
