Job description

The County (Tax) Assessor/Clerk is responsible for locating all taxable property in the County and identifying the ownership, establishing a taxable value for all property subject to property taxation, and maintaining public records such as licenses, resolutions, ordinances, permits, and transactions.

County assessors and clerks who serve ex officio as assessors must have received a County Assessor Certificate (see Nebraska Revised Statute 77-422)County officials must be residents of the county when they accept the office but they do not need to be a resident when declaring their candidacy
