Criminal Justice / Public Safety Increasing staffing levels to ACA/AJA recommendations will provide institutional security. Implementing Special Response Team and K-9 programs will directly impact Narcotics Eradication goals and improve jail campus safety. Infrastructure / Transportation Rob’s plans to improve infrastructure include expanding and consolidating drug treatment programs by providing approximately 80 beds. This will increase revenue, which is important for funding needed programs and to reduce the tax burden on the citizens of Hardin County. Infrastructure / Transportation Jail Safety is very important to Rob. Installing security fencing around the critical areas on the jail complex will reduce opportunities for jail escapes. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Overcrowding is a problem that can be overcome with the responsible use of alternative sentencing programs, such as HIP and Work Release for non-violent and low risk inmates. Rob will explore these alternatives in order to reduce the overcrowding problem and thereby reduce housing expenses. Wages / Job Benefits Rob believes professional agency credentialing with American Corrections and Jail Associations (ACA/AJA) will improve the standards of jail staff. Such accrediting will develop new revenue sources through funding and grants. Criminal Justice / Public Safety His focus on Programming will include improving education programs and work release programs. He will work to expand drug treatment programs and to improve the success of inmates in society after release. Female and male empowerment programs, parenting skills and anger management programs will play an important role in that success.
